Snowy owls inhabit the planet's Arctic regions and migrate south in winter to the northern United States. The females have more of the dark plumage markings but either sex are easy to identify being predominately white, large, up to 27 inches tall and having a wingspan of 41/2 to 51/2 feet. Snowy owls usually mate for life.

I'm a self-taught artist drawn to art since picking up my first crayon in kindergarten. As a native New Englander growing up in the Berkshires, there were many ready-made scenes just waiting for any artist to immortalize them! After several years of working and raising our family, I've picked up my brushes and paints again to resume an old love, and as anyone interested in art will attest it never ceases to be totally absorbing.
